One of the worst things about inflammatory arthritis is that you can’t fully predict how you will feel on any particular day. A flare can strike at any time.

Whether you get the full-body pain that leaves you unable to do anything but lay on the couch, or the more insidious aches and fatigue that makes it feel as though you’ve got weights strapped to your arms and legs, flares suck.

🔥 The fact that arthritis flares strike with little warning, and often for no reason whatsoever, is emotionally draining. Just when you think you’ve mapped out the pattern, things change.

I remember back in 2018, going to my nurse practitioner and telling her that my flares only last 2 weeks, so this one should be ending any day now. The next week, I said the same thing. And again the following week… Spoiler alert: I needed a new medication for my psoriatic arthritis.

It often feels like there is nothing that we can do. But you refuse to give in to that feeling, and you’re left wandering the internet (or bookstore) becoming more and more confused. 😡

All the “what to eat” lists are different. Each book has a different solution to sell you. Take this supplement. Go sugar-free. Dairy-free. Gluten-free. Cut out every food you enjoy. Use this lotion. Just push through it and stay active. Lose weight. On and on it goes. Add to that the fact that “inflammation” is a buzzword online, and you end up with a whole lot of weird information.

You know that what you do has the power to make you feel better, but you don’t know how to put all the puzzle pieces together.

📝 Planning

Planning is the unsexy backbone of our ability to accomplish our goals.

We will work together to plan habits and routines that build in flexibility so they account for arthritis and actually work with your life.

😴 Recovery

Flares will come and go; when you have the tools to take care of yourself during a flare, you can bounce back easier after it ends.

🌿 Intuition

Rebuild trust with that inner voice that gently tells you when to move, when to rest, when to eat, and what you need so you can stop relying on one-size-fits-all plans that don’t fit anyone.

🤯 Mindset

Chronic pain and fatigue take their toll.

You will learn mindset tools to help manage the mental and emotional impact of arthritis and know when you need more help.

🍎 Eating

You will gain the confidence to cut through the BS and discover what foods help your body to function at its best.

How does it work?

We will meet over video 12 times, about once per week, over 3 months to work through all of the top pillars of Planning, Recovery, Intuition, Mindset, and Eating. We’ll also be able to keep in touch by chat between appointments, if that’s your style.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Where does this take place?

From the comfort of your own house! All my services are virtual – from my home office to your home, provided that you live in one of the following provinces:

  • Ontario
  • New Brunswick
  • Nova Scotia
  • Newfoundland and Labrador

This is due to provincial regulations. I am registered in Ontario and some provinces do not allow dietitians to provide virtual services within their borders.

2. Do I have to download anything?

No. There is an app that you can download and use if you want to. However, everything can be done from your internet browser. You’ll need to have decent internet, however, because our meetings will be by video chat.

3. What if something comes up and I have to cancel?

Life happens. If you need to reschedule, try to do so as early as possible. This allows the appointment slot to be available for someone else to book. If you cancel less than 24 hours before your appointment, I may charge you a $25 cancellation fee.

4. I’m not sure I’m quite ready yet to book an appointment.

If you’re not ready, that’s perfectly okay. I know not everyone is at the point mentally or physically to make a change, or financially able to see a dietitian privately. If you have access to dietitians through your local family health team or clinic, please do make use of that fabulous resource. You can also sign up for my newsletter to get weekly letters from me.
